“Please don’t put spaghetti between your toes” is the kind of strange but practical nugget of advice that comes out at the dinner table when you have kids.
After hearing his wife say exactly that, Nebraska-based Martin Bruckner began illustrating posters of the absurd and hilarious things said in his household to and by their 2-year-old daughter, Harper Grace. Martin now doodles and logs the colourful phrases on a blog named Spaghetti Toes.
These funny images, which include: “I need to eat this booger so bad” and “my heart doesn’t feel well”, are accompanied by bold illustrations which enhance the phrases themselves, turning them from everyday conversation to comedy gold. Often annotations are added under the posts explaining how they came into being and these laugh-out-loud snippets of family life help bring a much needed dose of comedy to parenting!
