Ever wondered what it’s like inside a cooling tower? They’re one of those iconic buildings we were fascinated by as children, great hulking shapes on the horizon which were somehow responsible for keeping the lights on. My sister still affectionately calls them ‘cloud machines’, I think partly because no one ever really explained what they did or why they were there. Peter Untermaierhofer‘s photographs allow us inside and they’re still enigmatic things. It’s great to see that redundant towers, like the one above have found a new uses. You can imagine someone pottering around with a watering can growing veg inside one of these old beasts.
