I’ve yet to come into contact with a pyramid in person yet. I’ve always wanted to visit the pyramids of Giza, to stand at the bottom and marvel at the size of the thing, contemplating the monumental efforts of will needed just to complete the things in a time without mechanisation.

It is, however, lunch time on a Friday.

Thanks to the amazing still life photography of Sam Kaplan, all I really want to do right now is eat a pyramid of sandwiches, followed swiftly by a pit of donuts and to finish …a very big cup of tea in which to dunk a monument of malted biscuits.

Sam’s been composing beautifully lit, colourful and well considered still life photographs for a while now, having been the recipient of PDN’s ’30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch 2012′ and it appears consequent years have gone well for the man in question, who has a high profile client list filled with as much variety as one of his donut pits.

Check out his pits and pyramids series below and follow this link to see more mouthwatering masterpieces by the man himself.
